ShopKeep
ShopKeep (now LightSpeed HQ) is a cloud-based system aimed primarily for small businesses in both the retail and restaurant space. It allows business owners and their staff to track their business from their laptop or phone. With ShopKeep, merchants can record transactions, manage employees, track and analyze sales, and manage inventory all in one place.
OVERVIEW

ShopKeep was still a startup when I joined. I had to wear a lot of hats and worked on a wide range of projects.

I was part of the Creative Team. I designed high traffic landing pages & marketing emails, led the social media strategy and social media ads, ran photoshoots and helped with videography.

Using Google Analytics and Fullstory, I analyzed the data behind all of our campaigns. We used these findings to make decisions on our designs and strategies. Everything from a CTA colors to subject-lines were data-dependent.

One of the big initiatives my team completed was The ShopKeep Brand Refresh, where we did a brand overhaul which was long overdue.

The ShopKeep Audit

I helped run an Audit on ShopKeep along with the Senior Designer and Brand Director. We went through every page on the .com, all of our social sites, our email designs, communications and brand book.

ShopKeep was there to keep the dream and passion of their customer’s alive. They offered the perfect POS solution for your business. They knew your business is unique, and that is why they were NOT a one-size-fits-all. ShopKeep walked in their customer's shoes. Their understanding drove them to create products that work as hard as their customers do, to support, innovate, and grow with them. They existed to support and celebrate their successes.

There was a gap between what ShopKeep's Brand Identity WANTED to be and what it ACTUALLY WAS.

ShopKeep's existing branding and language did not reflect the dream and passion they believed in. Their software launched in 2008 and though they had a design overhaul in 2014, it once again became outdated. By 2019 the market had an increasing amount of competitors that all looked and sounded the same.

THE GOAL OF THE AUDIT:
To stand out in a saturated market by showing how ShopKeep speaks to small businesses on a relatable and emotional level.
A Brand is about creating long term health for an organization and effectively leveraging brand assets to achieve company goals.

ShopKeep's goals were to increase leads, increase conversion rates, and brand exposure.

Redefining The Brand Book

The Brand Book was our Source of Truth. Our team redefined ShopKeep's Brand Voice, Vision, Core Values and Pyramid.
We went from Robotic language and Jargon to Bold, Clever, Human and Relatable.

ShopKeep's Photography

ShopKeep's customers were merchants with businesses all across the country. The creative team held quarterly photoshoots in one of these cities and would visit multiple shops to take photos in the establishes. These businesses ranged from mom and pops to more established companies.

PREVIOUS SHOTS

In 2014 these photos were unique and inviting but by 2019 they were seen on every Point of Sale website and looked generic and stale. ShopKeep wanted to stand out in the POS industry in a BOLD yet RELATABLE way.

In the beginning of 2019 we worked with the creative agency &Walsh and created branded shoots for our social channels and  website. Both &Walsh and our team came up with concepts we felt were fun, bold, and relatable to small business owners. Below are the images from the shoots.

The Brand Refresh launched during the Covid-19 outbreak and we had to pivot our goals along with our messaging and designs during such a scary and sensitive time.

I led the design strategy for Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram. Instagram engagement increased 31% YoY, FB page likes were up 4% YoY and Pinterest followers grew 19%, turning it into a viable lead generating channel.
